I've come here many times but never alone,

So everything about this arrival is sending shivers up my bone.

My surroundings are familiar but for some reason, do not feel like home,

For it feels like all my emotions have soaked up in some foam.

Then similar values and love surface again,

And I start to realize why I came here to begin.

Experiencing the closeness between each member feels like a blessing,

After all, Diwali is all about happiness, fun, and fancy dressing.

Before long, I am flawlessly communicating in the local tongue,

Realizing what about this land had made my heart sprung.

Walking around town, feeling a special connection to others,

It was as if I was in a place where everyone was my sisters and brothers.

As an aged tree with roots deeply grounded,

Here was my identity, again, founded.
