Long Time Late

We've known each other long before we started being,

From a time when we were just realizing all that we were seeing.

Throughout our youth, I found your philosophies bothersome,

And assumed all that you were, was a heartless bum.

However, as time continues to flow,

The space between our meetings continues to grow.

Our every encounter now leaves me intrigued,

Wondering if I failed to understand you because you were out of my league;

Or because I knew knowing you more would make me weak,

Allowing my deeper emotions to leak.
