New Shoes

Uncomfortable at first,

They create blisters that later expand and burst.

But they can't be removed,

Because they provide a look that cannot be renewed.

Eventually the painful days are gone,

Leaving in the present something beautiful, a new dawn.

Whether from a pile of garbage or a dirty old carpet,

They constantly protect you,

Becoming and branding your who.

For challenges are like new shoes,

We learn their value with every use,

And in avoiding them, only you lose.
