New Year

Time has a will of its own,

And every year its will is clearly shown.

From exciting dress up sessions for back to back family weddings in India, the motherland,

To every eatery celebration in New York - so delicious, so grand;

From long nights out in Paris, the city of brands,

To playing ninja in the alleys of Barcelona with unexpected dead ends;

From impacting and being inspired in Nicaragua while triggering every sweat gland,

To partaking in the biggest holiday in my parents' homeland;

From quality dinners and hangouts that came unplanned,

To witnessing the miraculous recovery of injuries a body can withstand;

From dealing with life at hand,

To learning how to control everything the mind can demand:

2019, you brought memories as a gift I would receive from a dear friend,

Teaching me lessons and reminding me of the choices I can make till the very end.

Walking into 2020 from this winter wonderland,

I wear all the wisdom from the past year like a headband,

Allowing my mind and heart to further expand.
